Pune: Balewadi Welfare Federation Seeks Police Action After Assault On Security Guard, Plans Citizen-Police Dialogue

Following a disturbing incident involving the assault of a security guard by a group of delivery boys at Sankruti Homes Society, members of the Balewadi Welfare Federation met with Senior Police Inspector Chandrashekhar Sawant at the Baner Police Station to raise concerns about increasing threats to community safety.
The Federation submitted a formal memorandum to the police, highlighting the need for strict action and preventive measures. They also pointed out a similar past incident at Parkland Society, underscoring a worrying pattern of aggression towards residential security personnel.
“We are deeply concerned about the safety of our community and the growing boldness of such acts,” said a Federation representative. They urged the police to ensure that those responsible are held accountable and that steps are taken to prevent further incidents of this nature.
Inspector Sawant assured the delegation that legal proceedings against the accused are underway. He reaffirmed the department’s commitment to protecting residents and emphasized that cooperation between citizens and law enforcement is crucial in maintaining peace and order. “We encourage all residents to remain alert and to report any suspicious behaviour without delay,” he said.
To strengthen community-police relations and address public safety issues more effectively, Baner Police Station and the Balewadi Welfare Federation have jointly announced plans to host a Police-Citizen Dialogue. The event will serve as a platform for open communication between residents and law enforcement officials, aiming to promote awareness, build trust, and find collaborative solutions to local security concerns.
