Pune Police, Maulanas Hold Coordination Meet To Ensure Peaceful Bakri Eid Celebrations
Pune: Ahead of Bakri Eid, Pune Police conducted a coordination meeting with maulanas and religious leaders from the Zone 5 region to ensure the festival is celebrated peacefully and in accordance with civic and legal norms.
The meeting took place on Saturday at the Zone 5 police office in Wanowrie. It was attended by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 5) Rajkumar Shinde, senior officials from Hadapsar and Wanowrie police stations, and representatives from the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC).
Key topics discussed included the regulation of animal sacrifice, proper use of loudspeakers at mosques, prevention of illegal animal trade, and the closure of unauthorized slaughterhouses.
“We aim to ensure that the celebrations are held lawfully and with sensitivity towards public sentiment. Peace and unity are our shared goals,” said DCP Shinde during his address.
Police officials stressed the need for strict adherence to Supreme Court guidelines on loudspeaker use, including restrictions on volume and permissible hours.
Religious leaders assured full cooperation and agreed to spread awareness among community members about the festival protocols. The meeting concluded with a collective appeal for communal harmony and mutual respect to make Bakari Eid a smooth and joyous occasion for all.
