Pune: PMC Sets June 7 Deadline To Complete Pending Roadworks
Pune | June 2, 2025 – With the monsoon fast approaching, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has instructed all civic departments to complete pending road restoration work by June 7, 2025. The directive was issued during a high-level review meeting chaired by Additional Municipal Commissioner (Development) Omprakash Divate.
The meeting was convened to assess the status of road digging permissions granted to various departments for infrastructure works ahead of the rainy season. Senior officials, including Chief Engineers, Superintending Engineers, Executive Engineers, Deputy Engineers, and Junior Engineers from departments such as roads, sewerage, water supply, and electrical services, were present.
While most departments have completed their assigned work, road resurfacing in several areas remains underway. Shri Divte directed that resurfacing, where needed, must be accelerated and completed by the deadline, even if it requires deploying additional workforce.
He further stressed that work quality should not be compromised. Junior engineers must receive appropriate training and be present at restoration sites to ensure standards are maintained. Additionally, payments for the completed works will be held back until the end of the monsoon season to ensure accountability.
Divate also instructed that any emergency-related excavation work during the rainy season must be carried out only in coordination with the Road Department to avoid damage to restored roads.
The meeting was attended by senior officials including Aniruddha Pawaskar (Chief Engineer – Roads), Jagdish Khanore (Chief Engineer – Sewerage), Manisha Shekatkar (Chief Engineer – Electrical), and Nandkishor Jagtap (Chief Engineer – Water Supply), along with departmental engineers at various levels.
