Pune | June 4, 2025: Residents of Kausar Baug in Kondhwa have lauded the timely intervention of Pune Police, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), and local representatives in preventing the unauthorized setup of a goat market ahead of Eid al-Adha. The coordinated action has helped maintain cleanliness, ease traffic congestion, and preserve the residential character of the area during the festive period.

In a formal letter of appreciation, the Kausar Baug Residents Forum (KBRF) thanked the authorities for increasing patrols and enforcing rules to curb the roadside sale of goats and fodder. For years, the informal livestock markets had caused major disruptions, including blocked roads, unhygienic conditions, and chaos across narrow lanes during the Eid season.

KBRF member Nisar Attar emphasized the importance of the move. “Kausar Baug is home to nearly 40 to 50 residential societies. It’s not suited for livestock trading. Previously, festival days brought illegal parking, heavy congestion, and disorder. But this year, the PMC, Police, and Animal Husbandry Department worked in coordination and denied permission for the mandi. Their effort is commendable,” he said.

Attar also noted that the residents’ early engagement with officials helped ensure timely action. “We approached the authorities well in advance. The outcome is the result of proactive and collective effort,” he added.

Changing Trends in Qurbani Practices

Goat prices are very high this year, so many people are opting for third-party Qurbani services. That’s reduced roadside activity and the typical traffic mess caused by unregulated vendors.

Festival Celebrations in Order

With no illegal goat market this year, residents reported a more peaceful and organized environment leading up to Eid. Many credited the authorities’ intervention for allowing the community to celebrate the festival without the inconvenience and health risks posed in previous years.

KBRF stated that it hopes the current approach continues in future years to ensure the locality remains safe, clean, and community-friendly during all major festivals.
