In a major relief for passengers, Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has introduced a new digital payment facility called ‘ePayLater’, allowing users to book train tickets even without having funds at the moment of booking. This scheme enables travellers to complete their bookings instantly and pay later within 14 days with zero interest.

IRCTC ePayLater Scheme: Key Highlights

  • No Upfront Payment Required: Passengers can book general and Tatkal train tickets without making an immediate payment.
  • Pay Within 14 Days: The payment can be made anytime within 14 days of booking, without any interest or hidden charges.
  • Available on Website & App: The ePayLater option is accessible via both the IRCTC website and mobile app (iOS & Android).
  • Supports Flights & Tour Packages: Apart from trains, the facility is also available for flight tickets and IRCTC tour packages both domestic and international.
  • Simple Booking Process: Select your preferred train, flight, or tour on IRCTC, proceed to the payment page, choose ‘ePayLater’, and your booking is confirmed. No card details or wallet balance required.

This initiative is part of IRCTC’s ongoing efforts to promote Digital India and a cashless economy. The scheme has been launched in collaboration with Arthashastra Fintech Pvt Ltd, ensuring a seamless and secure experience even for users without access to debit/credit cards or net banking.

With over 1 lakh Tatkal bookings every day, the ePayLater feature is expected to provide significant convenience for millions of users who often face last-minute travel needs.
