Another Biker Dies Accident In Gangadham Chowk; NCP Pune Youth Congress Blames PMC, Police For Negligence
Pune, June 11, 2025 – A tragic accident at Gangadham Market Yard Chowk, Bibwewadi, claimed the life of another woman today after she was hit by a speeding truck. Disturbingly, a similar incident occurred last year in the same area when a woman died after being struck by a dumper.
According to the NCP Youth Congress Pune unit, the primary causes of both incidents are the Pune Municipal Corporation’s poor road planning and the inactivity of the traffic police department. Citizens’ lives, they allege, are being endangered due to political interference, administrative corruption, and official apathy.
In protest, the NCP Youth Congress (Pune) led a strong but peaceful agitation today and submitted a memorandum to Aniruddha Pawaskar, Chief Engineer (Road Department), Pune Municipal Corporation.
Activist Amol Pardeshi, with blood-smeared clothes and bandages, portrayed a crash victim to symbolically demonstrate the loss of life caused by the administration’s insensitivity. The protest aimed to highlight the harsh reality of repeated road fatalities due to negligence.
Led by Kishor Hanumant Kamble, President of the NCP Youth Congress Pune, protestors also handed over a toy truck to the PMC officials as a symbolic gesture—representing how the administration is “playing with the lives of Pune residents.”
Key Demands by NCP Youth Congress Pune:
- Immediate reconstruction of accident-prone roads
- Installation of traffic control systems
- Regular deployment of traffic police
- Immediate support to the victim’s family
- Strict action against inactive or corrupt civic officers
The party has warned of intensified protests if the administration fails to act. Media has been urged to highlight this serious issue and help generate public pressure for accountability.
Leaders present included Ajinkya Palkar, Rohan Paigude, Amol Pardeshi, Prajakta Jadhav, Laxman Waghmare, Vidya Takawale, Sameer Pawar, Amol Nanavare, Farukh Shaikh, Nilesh Pawar, Harshvardhan Dighe, and other office bearers and volunteers.
