Justice At Your Doorstep: DLSA Pune Launches Mobile Lok Adalat Van To Deliver Legal Aid Across District

Pune, June 13, 2025: In a major step towards making justice accessible to all, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Pune, launched a special Mobile Lok Adalat Van under the ambitious initiative “Nyay Aplya Dari” (Justice at Your Doorstep). The inauguration took place at the District and Sessions Court premises in Shivajinagar.

The mobile van aims to reach citizens in both urban and rural areas of Pune district, especially those unable to access courts due to financial, social, or geographical limitations. Starting June 12, the van will operate in Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), Pimpri-Chinchwad (PCMC), and cantonment areas. From June 23, it will begin covering all 11 talukas in the district.

The van will offer free legal advicequick dispute resolution, and even direct case settlements through Lok Adalat on the spot. It will also provide information and guidance on various government welfare schemes.

Retired judges, panel lawyers, para-legal volunteers (PLVs), and legal advisors will actively participate in the initiative. Legal awareness camps and free legal consultation sessions will also be conducted as part of the program.

“This is not just about legal services; it is a living message of social justice,” said Sonal S. Patil, Secretary, DLSA, Pune.

Highlighting the importance of the initiative, Principal District and Sessions Judge Mahendra K. Mahajan said, “Justice does not only mean passing judgments from a courtroom, but also reaching the people and ensuring they receive it.”

The initiative has received support from senior judges, legal professionals, and DLSA staff across Pune.
