New Delhi, June 14, 2025:

Amid escalating conflict between Iran and Israel, major Indian carriers IndiGo and Air India have issued official travel advisories alerting passengers about potential delays and rerouting of international flights due to airspace closures over the Middle East.

IndiGo, India’s largest airline, posted a notice on social media platform X, warning travelers that flights may face disruptions due to the ongoing regional tensions. The advisory stated:

“Airspace over Iran and surrounding areas continues to be unavailable. Certain flight paths may need adjustments, leading to extended travel durations or delays.”

Passengers have been strongly advised to check their flight status on the airline’s website or mobile app before heading to the airport. IndiGo also assured that its teams are prepared to assist affected travelers.

Air India has issued similar advisories, as many international carriers are now rerouting flights to avoid conflict zones. The situation stems from a sudden escalation in hostilities late Friday, when Israel launched “Operation Rising Lion” — a coordinated airstrike targeting Iranian military infrastructure, including nuclear facilities and the Revolutionary Guard headquarters.

In response, Iran retaliated with a wave of ballistic missile attacks targeting major Israeli cities like Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. While Israel’s Iron Dome air defense system intercepted many missiles, several still struck civilian areas, resulting in casualties.

The rapidly intensifying conflict has led to widespread airspace closures over Iran, Iraq, Jordan, and Israel, directly impacting flight operations across the region. Passengers traveling to or from Europe via the Middle East may experience longer flight durations, rerouting, or cancellations.

Both IndiGo and Air India continue to monitor the situation closely and are expected to update their advisories as needed. Travelers are urged to remain vigilant and stay updated with their airline’s official communication channels.
