Pune, June 29, 2026: Residents of Atria Grande and Dhanashree Aangan in Handewadi have raised serious concerns over the deteriorating civic infrastructure in the area, alleging that essential development works remain incomplete despite the locality being merged into the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) limits several years ago.

Following the recent spell of heavy rainfall, stormwater reportedly entered residential premises, causing inconvenience and raising safety concerns among residents. They said the road outside both housing societies has deteriorated significantly, with damaged surfaces, large potholes and inadequate stormwater drainage resulting in severe waterlogging during the monsoon.

Residents have urged the Pune Municipal Corporation to undertake a complete reconstruction of the road instead of carrying out temporary patchwork repairs. They have also demanded the installation of a scientifically designed stormwater drainage system and an underground sewage network to prevent recurring flooding and improve sanitation.

According to local citizens, the existing infrastructure is no longer adequate to support the area’s growing population. They contend that repeated temporary repairs have failed to provide a lasting solution, while poor road conditions and waterlogging continue to disrupt daily commuting and pose risks to motorists and pedestrians.

Residents have appealed to the civic administration to prioritise the long-pending infrastructure works and ensure permanent solutions before the monsoon causes further damage and hardship.
