Pune: 13 Schools Found Illegal, 24 Not Operating At Approved Locations; Parents Urged To Stay Alert

Pune, June 16, 2025 – In light of rising preference for English-medium schools among parents, the Pune District Administration has released a list of 13 unrecognized (unauthorized) schools and 24 government-recognized schools not operating from their approved premises. Additionally, 9 schools have Letters of Intent but no final approval. Parents are being urged not to admit their children to these schools to avoid compromising their education.

The Zilla Parishad Education Department found that several schools in Pune city and rural areas are running without valid government approvals, yet continue to advertise admissions. District authorities have issued orders to shut down all unauthorized schools immediately.

According to Sanjay Naikde, Education Officer, Zilla Parishad, enrolling children in such schools could jeopardize their future. Authorities across Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporations, Panchayat Samitis, and Block Education Offices have been directed to take swift action against such institutions.
