Pune Rain Update: Panshet Receives Heavy Showers, Khadakwasla Dam Chain Sees 0.43 TMC Rise
Khadakwasla, June 24, 2025: Heavy rainfall lashed the Panshet and Varasgaon dam areas, located near the Raigad district border, since Monday morning, resulting in a significant increase of 0.43 TMC (thousand million cubic feet) in the Khadakwasla dam chain’s water storage. By 5 PM on Monday, the total water stock in the dam chain reached 10.74 TMC, which is 36.83% of its total storage capacity.
In comparison, on Sunday evening (June 22), the water stock stood at 10.29 TMC. This year’s water level is more than double that of the same date last year, when the storage was only 3.58 TMC on June 23, 2024.
Rainfall figures for Monday include:
- Panshet: 20 mm
- Varasgaon: 22 mm
- Temghar: 28 mm
- Khadakwasla: 3 mm
Due to the heavy rains in the dam areas near the Raigad district border — such as Dasave, Tav, Dhaman Ohole, Mose, and Shirkoli — streams and rivulets are actively feeding water into the reservoirs.
Panshet valley saw consistent rainfall between 8 AM and 1 PM, followed by intermittent showers throughout the day. Light rain was also reported in the Sinhagad and Khadakwasla areas.
According to the Khadakwasla Dam Department, the dam’s water level has now reached 61.51% of its capacity. Currently, 352 cusecs of water are being released into the Mutha canal, and 684 cusecs into the Mutha river. The total storage capacity of the Khadakwasla dam chain is 29.15 TMC.
