Nagpur, July 1, 2025Â
The core area of the Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve (TATR) in Chandrapur, Maharashtra, will remain closed to visitors from July 1 for three months during the monsoon season. However, seven buffer zones will remain open for tourists during this period.
Prabhu Nath Shukla, Conservator of Forests and Field Director of TATR, stated that as the monsoon approaches, it becomes necessary to regulate tourism activities for safety reasons and to allow nature time for regeneration.
He added that the main gates will be closed from July 1 to October 2, but some buffer zones will remain accessible. These include:
Under Moharli Gate: Agarzari, Dewada, and Junona buffer areas
In the Kolara Zone: Kolara-Chauradeo, Belara, and Alizanja
In the Navegaon Zone: Navegaon buffer area
Visitors, wildlife enthusiasts, and stakeholders have been urged to check availability and make safari bookings only through the official website.
Shukla also shared that, according to Phase IV of the 2024 Tiger Census, the reserve is home to over 95 tigers. In the year 2024-25, more than 3.8 lakh tourists visited the sanctuary.
