Pune, July 2, 2025: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) conducted a comprehensive Deep Clean Drive across 15 administrative wards on July 1, 2025. The initiative aimed at improving sanitation, clearing accumulated waste, and addressing mosquito breeding grounds, encroachments, and cable clutter. 

Sandeep Kadam, Head, Solid waste management cell, PMC overlooked the initiative.  

A total of 51,985 kg of debris, 17,498 kg of dry waste, 8,922 kg of wet waste, and 12,282 kg of garden waste were collected during the operation.

Key Highlights of the Drive:

  • 1666 employees participated in the campaign.
  • 33 nuisance-causing vehicles and 60 handcarts were removed.
  • 119 banners/boards and 180 posters were cleared.
  • 186 mosquito breeding spots were identified and treated.
  • 189 locations were sprayed with insecticide.
  • 12 dangerous tree branches were pruned.
  • 20 unauthorized vehicles were towed.
  • 36404 meters of overhead Internet and other cables were removed.
  • 30 drinking water supply points were cleaned.
  • 215 CT/PT/urinals were sanitized.

The top contributing wards in terms of waste collection included Kothrud-Bavdhan, Dhankawadi-Sahakarnagar, and Ghole Road-Shivajinagar, which reported the highest volumes of collected garbage and debris.

The PMC’s integrated approach involved departments such as Solid Waste Management, Drainage, Encroachment Removal, Pest Control, and Garden, working in coordination to improve urban hygiene and safety.

This initiative is part of the PMC’s continued commitment to making Pune cleaner, greener, and healthier.
