The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for multiple states including parts of Maharashtra, Himachal Pradesh, East and West Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and East Rajasthan for July 2, warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated locations.

In Maharashtra, an orange alert has been issued for Pune, Satara, and Kolhapur districts. Several other districts such as Raigad, Nashik, Jalgaon, Nagpur, and Chandrapur have been placed under a yellow alert. The IMD forecast predicts very heavy rain over the Gujarat region, Madhya Maharashtra, and the Konkan and Goa region. Mumbai is likely to see generally cloudy skies with moderate to heavy spells of rainfall. The city’s maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to hover around 31°C and 27°C, respectively.

In Himachal Pradesh, Shimla and its surrounding regions continue to receive heavy rainfall, triggering landslides and disruption. The Shimla regional Met office has issued an orange alert for Mandi, Kangra, and Hamirpur districts, while a yellow alert remains in effect for Chamba, Kullu, Shimla, Solan, and Bilaspur.

In East Rajasthan, Gujarat Region, Odisha, and Uttarakhand, similar orange alerts are in place. These areas could experience localized flooding or surface runoff due to already saturated soil conditions.

Chandigarh has also been placed under a yellow alert by the regional Met department, particularly in districts such as Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Rupnagar, and Patiala, where thunderstorms and heavy rainfall are expected. Haryana districts including Karnal, Rohtak, Yamunanagar, and Jind are under a yellow alert, while Ambala has been issued an orange alert for July 2.

Residents in affected areas are advised to remain cautious, especially in low-lying and landslide-prone zones. IMD forecasts indicate light to moderate rainfall over most areas between July 2 and July 7, with heightened intensity on select days.
