Pune Municipal Corporation To Complete Key Land Acquisition For Missing Link Roads By August
To ease traffic congestion in the city, a review meeting of all compulsory land acquisition proposals was held today, Tuesday, July 8, 2025, under the chairmanship of Municipal Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram and in the presence of Pune District Collector Jitendra Dudi.
During the meeting, a total of 42 land acquisition proposals from various departments submitted by Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) were presented. Of these, the majority — 34 proposals — were related to the Roads Department, while the remaining 8 proposals pertained to other departments such as PMPML, MSRTC, etc. Each proposal’s current status was discussed in detail.
Instructions were given to urgently complete the land acquisition process for roads handling major heavy traffic, especially those connecting Katraj-Kondhwa Road, Satara-Mumbai Road, and Pune-Hadapsar-Solapur Road, in three phases by August 2025.

For the ‘Missing Link’ roads, joint surveys for land acquisition will be conducted in mission mode from July 15 to July 25, 2025, as directed to the Land Records Department. Additionally, urgent notifications were ordered for land acquisition for the approach road of the bridge under construction from Suncity towards Karvenagar Road.
To fast-track all land acquisition cases aimed at resolving traffic congestion, a Task Force comprising officials from the Revenue, PMC, and Town Planning departments will be formed. This Task Force will coordinate and hold weekly meetings to ensure swift progress.
Land acquisition for Mahatma Phule Wada, Krantijyoti Savitribai Phule Memorial, and other integration and expansion projects will also be completed on a fast-track basis.
Monthly review meetings will be organized to monitor progress against the set timelines. The Municipal Commissioner assured that adequate funds for these projects will be arranged through PMC planning and government grants.
This is the first time such a meeting has been held for an integrated approach to traffic decongestion in Pune.
Senior PMC officials, including Additional Commissioner (Special) Omprakash Divate, Chief Engineer (Roads) Aniruddha Pawaskar, Deputy Commissioner (Land Acquisition & Property Management) Shakuntala Barve, along with officials from the Revenue Department such as the Superintendent of Land Records (SLR), Deputy SLR, and Special Land Acquisition Officers 15 and 16, attended the meeting.
