MSEDCL Activates Emergency Plan To Ensure Uninterrupted Power Supply Amid July 9 Strike
Pune: Power Supply To Remain Suspended In Several Areas On February 5.
Mumbai, July 9, 2025: Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has announced that it is fully prepared to ensure uninterrupted power supply across the state during the one-day strike called by six out of its 23 employee unions on Wednesday, July 9.
To avoid disruption, MSEDCL has activated emergency measures and deployed alternative manpower to keep operations running smoothly. Citizens have been urged not to believe in any false or misleading messages regarding power supply disruptions. A dedicated 24×7 mechanism has been set up to monitor and respond to complaints through toll-free numbers.
The strike was called by a joint action committee of six electricity workers’ unions over various state-level demands. MSEDCL’s Chairman and Managing Director Lokesh Chandra and Director (HR) Rajendra Pawar held two rounds of talks with union leaders, assuring them of a positive response to key issues and appealing to them to call off the strike to prevent inconvenience to consumers.
Emergency Preparedness:
MSEDCL has established control rooms at headquarters and regional offices to oversee power supply round the clock. Additional workforce, including non-striking staff, contractors, and external personnel from MSEDCL’s empaneled vendors, has been deployed across local offices and substations. Written instructions have been issued to all field offices for uninterrupted services.
Critical sectors such as households, water supply systems, hospitals, mobile towers, and government offices will be given priority. In case of outages, backfeeding arrangements will be used to restore supply promptly.
Consumers can contact the central customer service centers at 1912, 1800-212-3435, or 1800-233-3435 for assistance during the strike period.
