How to Apply for Child’s Aadhaar Card from Home: A Quick 5-Step Guide
In today’s digital age, an Aadhaar card isn’t just an ID—it’s essential. From school admissions and passport applications to bank accounts and government welfare schemes, your child will need it sooner or later. The good news? You don’t have to step out to get started.
Children can get an Aadhaar card right from birth, helping them access vital services early on. The process is simple: you mainly need your child’s birth certificate (or hospital discharge slip) and either parent’s Aadhaar card. Plus, for kids below 5, no biometrics (like fingerprints or iris scan) are required initially—they’ll be updated after your child turns 5.
Here’s how you can easily apply from home:
Step 1:
Visit the official UIDAI website: https://uidai.gov.in
Step 2:
Click on “Book an Appointment” to schedule your Aadhaar enrollment visit.

Step 3:
Select your city or nearest center, fill in your child’s details and your own, then confirm the appointment.
Step 4:
On the scheduled day, go to the Aadhaar center with your child. Carry the birth certificate, hospital discharge papers, and one parent’s Aadhaar card.
Step 5:
If your child is 5 or older, their biometrics will be captured (fingerprints, photograph, iris scan). For younger kids, this will be done once they reach 5 years of age.
After submission, your child’s Aadhaar card is usually generated within 2–3 weeks. You’ll receive it by post, or you can download the e-Aadhaar from the UIDAI website.
Getting an Aadhaar for your child isn’t just ticking off a checklist—it’s about ensuring they’re ready to access the benefits, opportunities, and rights they deserve. And thanks to the online process, it’s never been easier to get started.
