Mumbai, July 10, 2025: The teachers’ protest at Mumbai’s Azad Maidan has achieved partial success after the Maharashtra government assured them of a 20% salary hike.

The revised amount will be credited to the accounts of unaided teachers once the ongoing Assembly session concludes on July 18, Minister Girish Mahajan announced during his visit to the protest site.

Earlier in the day, senior leaders Sharad Pawar and Uddhav Thackeray also met with the protesting teachers, urging them not to rely on others and promising, “We will get your demands fulfilled; no one else can.”

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis blamed the previous MVA government for the plight of teachers, stating, “We took the decision to release funds after coming to power. Yes, there has been a delay, but we are committed. In two and a half years, they didn’t pay a single rupee. Now they are doing politics here.”

The issue has sparked a fresh political controversy, with parties trading accusations over the handling of teachers’ pending dues.
