Pune’s civic negligence has once again come under scrutiny after a shocking series of ten accidents occurred at the same spot on the Dehu to Yelwadi road within just three hours. Fortunately, no fatalities have been reported, but the repeated mishaps — all captured on CCTV — have alarmed local residents.
The accidents took place in Maval taluka, where large potholes have made the road increasingly dangerous. Locals had earlier requested the authorities to properly repair the damaged stretch, fearing that the potholes could cause serious accidents or even claim lives. However, officials merely filled the potholes with loose gravel as a temporary fix.
This quick patchwork turned hazardous when rain turned the gravel into slippery mud, spreading across the road. As a result, multiple two-wheeler riders lost control, skidded, and suffered injuries one after another in what looked like an action replay.
Locals have strongly criticized the administration’s careless approach, arguing that the so-called repair work has put lives at risk instead of making the road safer. Residents now hope the authorities will take permanent measures to fix the road before a fatal accident occurs.
