Pune: PMC Cracks Down on Illegal Encroachments Along Salunke Vihar Road in Wanowrie
Pune, July 16, 2025: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) conducted a major anti-encroachment drive today on Salunke Vihar Road extending up to Kausar Baug Masjid in Wanowrie.
The operation targeted unauthorized structures and obstructions on footpaths and front margin spaces.
The joint action was carried out by PMC’s Encroachment Department and the Building Development Department, with the support of security personnel.
During the operation, officials removed 10 handcarts, 12 iron counters, 15 vegetable stalls, and two additional kiosks. A total of six truckloads of seized material were transported to the municipal storage facility.
Additionally, unauthorized temporary and permanent structures covering approximately 6,700 sq. ft. of front margin space were demolished. The drive was conducted in the presence of Junior Engineer Sopan Rupnar, Regional Encroachment Inspector Ganesh Taru, Rakesh Kachi, Assistant Inspector, along with 10 other officials and 42 support staff. The PMC deployed one JCB machine, six trucks, and 18 MSF personnel for the operation.
Regional Encroachment Inspector Ganesh Taru stated that similar actions will continue against illegal commercial activities in the area to ensure public spaces are kept free from encroachments.
