Pune Airport Sees 1.7 Lakh Monthly Passenger Surge Over Two Years
Pune, July 18, 2025: Pune International Airport has witnessed a significant rise in passenger traffic, with monthly numbers increasing by 1.7 lakh over the past two years. Data shared by Airport Director Santosh Dhoke highlights consistent growth not just in passenger movement, but also in aircraft operations and cargo handling at the facility.
In June 2023, the airport recorded 7,63,491 passengers, comprising 7,50,162 domestic and 13,329 international flyers. By June 2024, this figure had risen to 8,34,939 passengers, with 8,18,659 domestic and 16,280 international travellers. The upward trend continued into May 2025, which saw 9,38,552 passengers, including 9,04,164 domestic and 34,388 international flyers.
Aircraft traffic has also shown steady growth. In June 2023, the airport handled 4,983 flights, of which 4,873 were domestic and 110 international. The numbers increased in June 2024 to 5,505 flights, including 5,388 domestic and 117 international operations. By May 2025, the airport saw 6,103 flights, with a notable jump in international flights reaching 247, alongside 5,856 domestic flights.
The steady rise underscores Pune airport’s growing importance as a hub for both domestic and international travel. Officials attribute this growth to enhanced connectivity, increasing demand for air travel, and improved airport infrastructure.
The trend has sparked calls for further upgrades to manage the surge and ensure seamless passenger experience in the years ahead.
