Pune: Daughter-in-Law Visiting In-Laws To Collect Documents Allegedly Assaulted; 10 Including Women Bouncers And In Laws Booked
Pune, July 20: The Baner Police have registered a case against a retired Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), his wife, and 8 to 10 unidentified women bouncers for allegedly assaulting their daughter-in-law and preventing her from entering the family residence in Balewadi.
The accused have been identified as retired ACP Sunil Pawar, his wife Supriya Pawar, and 8 to 10 unidentified women bouncers. Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
According to the complaint, the victim visited her in-laws’ residence in Balewadi on July 14 to collect her educational documents required for employment and competitive examinations. She alleged that her mother-in-law refused to allow her entry into the house, forcing her to wait in the parking area.
As per the FIR, later in the evening, a woman bouncer arrived, followed by another 8 to 10 women. When Ishika allegedly attempted to record the incident on her mobile phone, the group reportedly snatched the device from her.
The complainant has alleged that the women then physically assaulted her, punching and beating her before dragging her outside the property and throwing her onto the road.
She further alleged that Sunil Pawar and Supriya Pawar were present during the incident and allegedly instructed the women bouncers to assault her and throw her out of the gate.
After receiving medical treatment, Ishika approached the Baner Police Station and lodged a complaint. Based on her statement, police have registered a case against the accused.
Police sources said a separate case of alleged domestic harassment had also been registered against the in-laws at Baner Police Station last week.
Further investigation is underway.
