Lonavala Crime News: Woman Abducted, Assaulted In Moving Car; One Arrested, Two Suspects On The Run
Pune, July 27, 2025 — A shocking incident has surfaced from the hill town of Lonavala, where a 23-year-old woman was allegedly abducted and gang-raped in a moving car by three men, including the driver. The incident, which took place late Friday night, has triggered outrage and raised serious concerns over women’s safety in the region.
According to the Lonavala City Police, the victim was walking near Narayani Dham temple in Tungarli around 9 PM on Friday when three unidentified men in a car forcibly abducted her. The accused allegedly gagged her, tied her hands behind her back, snatched her mobile phone, and forcibly stripped her before taking turns to sexually assault her at multiple isolated locations throughout the night.
The ordeal reportedly continued until the early hours of Saturday. The accused later dumped the victim by the roadside in a deserted area near Nangargaon and fled the scene.
The woman reported the incident to the police on Saturday afternoon. She underwent a medical examination following which a formal complaint was registered around 2:30 PM at the Lonavala City Police Station under serious charges, including gang rape and kidnapping.
One Arrested Within 12 Hours, Hunt On for Two Others
Lonavala Police Inspector Rajesh Ramaghare confirmed that one of the accused has been arrested within 12 hours of the incident coming to light. Efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining two suspects.
Accused Description Released By Police:
1. Driver (Age ~25): Dark complexion, heavy build, approx. 5.5 feet tall, wearing pants and a shirt.
2. Second Accused (Age ~30): Dark complexion, medium build, approx. 6 feet tall, dressed in a white shirt and pants.
3. Third Accused (Age ~25): Dark complexion, medium build, approx. 5.5 feet tall, wearing a grey shirt and pants.
Investigation and Security Measures
Authorities have intensified the investigation and formed multiple teams to track the absconding accused. CCTV footage from nearby areas is being reviewed, and checkpoints have been set up in and around Lonavala.
The case has sparked widespread concern and condemnation, with citizens demanding swift justice for the survivor.
