Pune: In a landmark moment for Indian roller sports, Pune’s Shreyasi Joshi has scripted history by clinching two gold medals at the 20th Asian Roller Skating Championships, held in Jecheon, South Korea, from July 19 to 30.
Shreyasi first struck gold in the Classic Slalom event, becoming the first Indian ever to win gold in this category. She followed it up with another stellar performance in Battle Slalom, one of the most challenging and dynamic events in freestyle skating, earning her second gold and marking a historic first for India in freestyle roller skating.
Trained under acclaimed coach Ashutosh Jagtap in Pune, Shreyasi balances elite training with academics, currently pursuing her third year of Computer Engineering at MIT Engineering College, Pune.

“Two gold medals at the Asian level is an extraordinary accomplishment,” said Coach Jagtap. “Shreyasi has not only made India proud but has become a role model for young skaters across the nation.”
The Indian flag was hoisted and the national anthem played twice in her honor, bringing emotional and proud moments for the entire Indian contingent.
Shreyasi’s double gold not only reflects her dedication and discipline but also showcases the emerging dominance of Indian athletes in international roller sports. Her achievement is a beacon of inspiration for aspiring skaters and a powerful testament to India’s growing sporting potential.
