Pune, June 20, 2026: A retired Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), his son, and five other family members have been booked by Kondhwa Police following allegations of mental and physical harassment made by a 30-year-old married woman.

According to the complaint lodged at Kondhwa Police Station, the woman alleged that her father-in-law, retired ACP subjected her to harassment and inappropriate conduct. She further claimed that after she opposed his actions, she faced continued mental and physical abuse from members of her husband’s family.

Based on her complaint, police have registered a case against retired ACP , mother-in-law, sister-in-law, and others.

The complainant alleged that she was repeatedly harassed, physically assaulted, and subjected to cruelty by her husband, mother-in-law, and other relatives. Unable to endure the alleged abuse, she approached the police and filed a formal complaint.

Police said the woman comes from a well-established family. Her father is a retired Deputy Secretary from the General Administration Department of the state secretariat. The marriage was arranged through mutual acquaintances, and the couple got engaged in November 2021 at a five-star hotel in Pune’s Viman Nagar area before marrying in Saswad in April 2022.

The complaint also states that substantial expenses for the engagement and wedding were borne by the woman’s family, along with gifts and jewellery presented during the marriage.

Kondhwa Police have registered the case and initiated a detailed investigation into the allegations. Further inquiry is underway.
