In India, many people don’t follow traffic rules, which often causes accidents. If you also keep breaking rules, your license might get cancelled.

License Can Be Cancelled After Repeated Challans

The number of challans allowed before cancelling a license depends on the state.

  • In many states, if you get 3 challans, your license can be cancelled.
  • In some states, if you get more than 5 challans, your license may be cancelled.

Traffic fines are not only given by traffic police but also by CCTV cameras on roads. So, one vehicle can get many challans.

If your license gets cancelled, you will have to pay a fine and apply for a new one. Also, if your license is lost or expired, you need to get a new one.

How to Apply for a Driving License Online:

  1. Go to https://parivahan.gov.in
  2. Click on “Online Services”“Driving License Related Services”
  3. Select your state
  4. Click on “Application for DL Renewal”
  5. Fill in your details
  6. Upload the needed documents, photo, and signature
  7. Pay the fees and submit the form

How to Apply Offline:

  1. Go to your nearest RTO office
  2. Fill Form 2 (for new license) or Form LLD (for duplicate license)
  3. Submit required documents
  4. Pay the fees
  5. Do biometric verification

Note:

  • Your mobile number must be linked with Aadhaar
  • People above 40 years need to submit a medical fitness form (Form 1A)
  • For a duplicate license, you also need an FIR copy
