Pune: IAF Hosts AVISEM-25 Seminar On Avionics Development
Pune, August 13, 2025: Headquarters Maintenance Command (HQ MC) of the Indian Air Force organized AVISEM-25, a two-day seminar on “Challenges in Avionics Development and Product Life Cycle Management” on 12-13 August 2025 at Base Repair Depot (BRD), Pune. The event was chaired by Air Marshal Vijay Kumar Garg, AOC-in-C, HQ MC, and attended by senior officials from DRDO, CEMILAC, NAL, Indian Army, Navy, and over 100 industry partners.
In his keynote, Air Marshal Garg emphasized the IAF’s push for self-reliance in avionics through indigenization, reverse engineering, and structured life cycle
management of LRUs. He reiterated the IAF’s commitment to in-house repair and indigenous development to reduce dependence on foreign OEMs and promote domestic capability.
He highlighted the technical challenges of managing avionics without original design data, calling for indigenous diagnostics, test tools, and deeper collaboration with DRDO, CEMILAC, and industry to build future-ready systems.
The IAF assured full access to depot-level support for industry development efforts, with CSIR-NAL on boarded as a technical consultant to guide indigenous design and certification.
A dedicated workshop by CSIR-NAL and a certification toolkit showcased by
CEMILAC helped streamline processes for D&D agencies – marking a key step toward strengthening India’s aerospace self-reliance.
