Pune, June 27, 2026: With schools reopening for the new academic session, the Pune Regional Transport Office (RTO) has launched a dedicated Sunday inspection drive to ensure school buses meet mandatory safety and fitness standards.

The special initiative will begin on Sunday, June 28, at the RTO’s Dive office, where fitness inspections will be carried out every Sunday starting at 8 am. On the first day of the drive, 120 school buses have been scheduled for inspection. Bus operators will be required to obtain prior appointments before bringing their vehicles for fitness certification.

The weekly inspections are aimed at ensuring that school buses remain roadworthy and comply with all prescribed safety regulations, thereby providing safer transportation for students.

Deputy Regional Transport Officer Swapnil Bhosale said the department has introduced the Sunday inspections to facilitate timely fitness certification without affecting the routine operations of schools and transport operators.

“With schools having reopened, it is essential that all school buses undergo mandatory fitness checks. Keeping the Dive office operational on Sundays will help operators complete the inspection process conveniently. We urge all school bus operators to get their vehicles inspected on time and extend their cooperation,” Bhosale said.

The RTO expects the special drive to streamline the fitness certification process while reinforcing road safety measures for school transport across the Pune region.
