Pune , 14th August: Commuters travelling from Pune towards Mumbai on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway faced heavy traffic on Thursday morning, particularly between Lonavala and Khandala. Motorists reported being stuck at the same spot for over 15 minutes, with navigation apps showing another 30 minutes of congestion ahead.

The traffic build-up comes just a day before the extended long weekend, which includes holidays for Independence Day and Janmashtami on Friday and Saturday, followed by Sunday. Many travellers are expected to head towards popular destinations, significantly increasing the rush on the route.

“If this is the situation today, we can’t imagine what it will be like tomorrow,” said one commuter stuck in the jam.

Authorities have advised travellers to plan their trips carefully, keep adequate fuel, and carry water and snacks to manage possible delays, as traffic is expected to remain heavy throughout the weekend.
