Union Minister Nitin Gadkari says the project will drastically cut travel time and boost connectivity between key cities.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has announced that a new high-speed highway linking Mumbai, Pune, and Bengaluru will enable travel from Pune to Bengaluru in just five hours. The expressway will begin at the Atal Tunnel in Mumbai, connect to the proposed Pune Ring Road, and extend to Bengaluru. Work on the project has already started.

Alongside this, Gadkari revealed plans for a new Mumbai–Pune expressway to reduce travel time between the two cities to just 90 minutes. He also announced ₹50,000 crore worth of infrastructure projects aimed at improving Pune’s connectivity and fostering economic growth.

The update came during the inauguration of 29 national highway projects in Andhra Pradesh, spanning 272 km and costing over ₹5,233 crore. Key works include the 56 km National Highway 71 (Madanapalle–Pileru section) with multiple flyovers and bridges, and the 31 km National Highway 340C (Kurnool–Mandalem section) featuring viaducts and underpasses.
