Pune: PMC And District Administration Push For Faster Land Acquisition To Ease Traffic Woes
Pune, August 20, 2025: To expedite critical road projects aimed at decongesting Pune’s traffic, Municipal Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram and District Collector Jitendra Dudi chaired a review meeting on land acquisition progress. The session followed an earlier joint meeting held on July 8, 2025, where directions were issued to speed up land surveys and mapping for major roadworks.
Key directives from the review meeting:
- Katraj–Kondhwa Road: Of the three ongoing land acquisition projects, funding for the 50-metre-wide road in the first phase will be provided, with acquisition to be completed within two months.
- The Commissioner directed the Roads and Land Acquisition departments, along with the finance division, to ensure funds are arranged for the Katraj–Kondhwa project.
- For missing link projects, a priority list will be drawn up considering required funds and timelines for completion in the first, second, and third years.
- Roads identified for priority include:
- Wakad–Balewadi road link via the bridge
- Pune Peth–Vadgaon Budruk–Sinhgad Road–Suncity to Karvenagar bridge link
- Karvenagar Mahalakshmi Lawns to Jawalkar Garden road
- Karve Statue petrol pump to Milan Colony stretch
- Other Development Plan (DP) roads and missing links
- The administration noted satisfaction that all joint survey maps required for acquisition, as instructed in the July 8 meeting, have been received.
- For Shivane–Kharadi Road, demolition of acquired structures and coordinated planning between Roads and Land Acquisition departments will be taken up.
- The Commissioner directed that TDR (Transferable Development Rights) cases related to roads be fast-tracked for approval.
- Special Land Acquisition Officers Nos. 15 and 16 were instructed by the District Collector to present pending cases for approval within the next eight days.
- All departments were asked to work with set priorities and clear targets.
The meeting was attended by senior officials including Additional Commissioner (Special) Omprakash Divate, Chief Engineer (Roads) Aniruddha Pawaskar, Superintendent Engineer (Projects) Dinkar Gojare, Deputy Commissioner (Land Acquisition) Vasundhara Barve, Deputy District Collector (Land Acquisition) Kalyan Pandhare, and others.
The review concluded with a strong emphasis on accelerating land acquisition to enable faster execution of critical traffic improvement projects across Pune.
