Pune, August 22, 2025: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted a reduction in rainfall intensity across Maharashtra as the low-pressure belt over the Bay of Bengal has shifted northwards and cyclonic winds over the Arabian Sea are now moving towards Gujarat.

Over the past four days, heavy rainfall battered Mumbai, Pune, Marathwada, and Vidarbha, causing severe flooding and widespread damage. The state has recorded 24 fatalities, hundreds of livestock deaths, and substantial agricultural losses. Several dams have reached full capacity, prompting heavy water discharge, while overflowing rivers have inundated nearby villages, forcing thousands to relocate.

According to the Regional Meteorological Centre, maximum temperatures in Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, and Konkan will remain steady for the next 24 hours but may rise by 2–4°C thereafter.
