Pune Crime: Engineer Murdered By Teen In Revenge Over Disclosing Sister’s Affair
Pune, 22 August 2025: A shocking incident has come to light in Pune’s Mangdewadi area, where a 25-year-old computer engineer was brutally murdered over revealing his ‘rakhi sister’s’ love affair to her family.
The victim, identified as Saurabh Swami Athawale, had treated a minor girl as his sister and cared deeply for her. Upon learning of her romantic relationship, which she had kept hidden from her family, Saurabh informed her parents, believing it was his responsibility. However, this disclosure triggered deadly consequences.
The minor girl’s boyfriend became enraged and allegedly threatened Saurabh, saying he would pay the price for exposing the relationship. On the night of August 18, Saurabh left home and never returned. The next day, his family lodged a missing person’s complaint at Bharati Vidyapeeth Police Station.
Meanwhile, Rajgad Police found an unidentified body in the hilly area near Shindewadi village. Upon confirmation, it was identified as Saurabh.
Investigations revealed that the minor boyfriend had plotted the murder out of revenge, enlisting three friends – Anil Gujje (21), Sangam Kshirsagar (19), and Nitin Shinde (18) – to help. They allegedly lured Saurabh near his home, forced him into a vehicle, took him to a secluded area, and attacked him with sharp weapons, resulting in his death.
Police have seized vehicles, mobile phones, and weapons used in the crime. The accused have been remanded to police custody until August 28. Further investigation is underway.
