Pimpri Chinchwad Police Launch Forensic Medical Team and High-Tech Van To Strengthen Crime Probes
Pimpri Chinchwad, August 27, 2025 – The Pimpri Chinchwad Police Department has bolstered its investigative capabilities by introducing a dedicated forensic medical team and an advanced mobile forensic van to the crime branch.
The initiative, launched following the implementation of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA) from July 1, 2024, aims to improve evidence collection and increase conviction rates in serious crimes.
The van, inaugurated by Police Commissioner Vinay Kumar Choubey, is equipped with facilities for DNA profiling, NDPS testing, footprint analysis, cyber investigations, fire and explosive detection, bullet and GSR testing, and forensic sampling for sexual assault cases.
The van is equipped with advanced facilities and will be operated by six forensic medical experts. It contains kits for NDPS testing, DNA analysis, footprint collection, cyber investigations, fire and explosive detection, bullet testing, GSR testing, and blood and semen examination in sexual assault cases, along with tools for various forensic sample analyses.
These features will allow investigators to collect different types of evidence from crime scenes scientifically and systematically. The integrated setup will ensure faster evidence collection, accurate analysis, and more efficient, scientific investigation methods, ultimately helping increase conviction rates.
A team of six forensic medical experts will operate the unit, ensuring evidence is gathered scientifically and quickly.
Police officials stated that the initiative will enable faster, more accurate investigations and enhance conviction success rates.
