Mumbai, August 28, 2025 – Maratha reservation activist Manoj Jarange Patil announced that only 5,000 protesters will be allowed to sit at Azad Maidan as part of the Maratha Morcha. Addressing the media, he said, “We have been granted permission for one day, which is insufficient. We will continue our protest peacefully and within the law, but we will not withdraw until reservation is granted. The government must permit us to continue until our demand is met.”

Jarange clarified that the Mumbai protest will be organised in seven phases and warned that if the government causes unnecessary trouble, the agitation could intensify. “If we are harassed, more protesters will join us, and if provoked further, Maratha mothers will bring Maharashtra to a standstill. No matter what, I will not leave Mumbai,” he asserted.

He also sent a sharp message to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, saying, “Everyone calls me crazy, but only Fadnavis knows what I’m made of. He should not provoke me.”

Jarange urged all Maratha community members to maintain peace and follow the rules, emphasising that the protest must remain democratic and disciplined.
