Pune: Residents Stage Protest On Wagholi - Kesnand Road, Demand Immediate Repairs And Widening
Pune, August 30, 2025 – A roadblock protest was organised today by the Wagholi Housing Societies Association and citizens along Kesnand Road to demand urgent road repairs. The protest was successfully carried out at 10 a.m.
The agitation received strong support from Wagholi Housing Societies Association Director Gopal Dhole, Ankush De, Santosh Krishna, Sandesh Lokhande, government-appointed corporator Sandeep Aba Satav, Shantaram Bapu Katke, Prakash Jamdade, Anil Kumar Mishra, senior citizens and women from Kesnand Road societies.
Protesters accused the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and Public Works Department (PWD) of delaying roadworks and giving evasive responses. As a mark of protest, trees were planted inside potholes along the road to highlight the poor condition.
Key Demands:
- Transfer of the Kesnand Phata to Hill Share Society road to PMC for execution.
- Construction of a four-lane cement road along this stretch.
- Removal of encroachments to increase road width.
During the protest, a memorandum was submitted to PWD officials. Citizens warned that if road repairs are not carried out immediately, a more intense public agitation will follow.
