MP Supriya Sule Urges Railways To Resume Pune-Solapur Passenger Train, Seeks Halt At Boribel Station
Pune: MP Supriya Sule Raises Alarm Over Water Shortage, Urges Devendra Fadnavis To Act Swiftly
Pune, September 2, 2025: NCP (SP) MP Supriya Sule has urged the Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to expedite the resumption of the Pune-Solapur passenger train service, which has remained suspended since the COVID-19 lockdown. She also requested that the train’s halt at Boribel station be reinstated to ease travel for local residents.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Sule expressed concern over the prolonged suspension of the service, stating that the closure has caused significant inconvenience to passengers, especially those living near Boribel. “The Pune-Solapur passenger train earlier provided easy connectivity to citizens as it stopped at Boribel station. However, despite multiple appeals, the service remains discontinued. Villagers have now resorted to a hunger strike to press their demand, which reflects the gravity of the issue,” she said.
Sule criticised the railway administration for delaying the decision, calling it a matter that required immediate attention. “Many trains that were stopped during the pandemic are yet to be restarted. It is unfortunate that the citizens of Boribel and nearby areas continue to suffer due to this. My earnest appeal to the Railway Minister is to take prompt action and restore this vital service without further delay,” she added.
Residents have repeatedly petitioned railway authorities, highlighting that the passenger train is a lifeline for daily commuters, traders, and students travelling between Pune and Solapur. Despite their persistent efforts and a hunger strike, no concrete steps have been taken so far.
Local leaders and community representatives have warned that the agitation may intensify if the demands are ignored, urging the railway administration to treat the issue as a priority for the benefit of thousands of regular travellers.
