Pune: SPPU Issues Fresh Advertisement For 52 Assistant Professor PostsĀ
SPPU Calls For Proposals To Launch New Courses and Research Centres for 2026-27
Pune, September 4, 2025: The Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) has released a second advertisement for the recruitment of 52 assistant professor posts on a contractual basis. This comes after its June 18 notification that had announced 133 vacancies for the same positions.
Following the first recruitment round, interviews were conducted, and 86 candidates were selected out of 133 posts. However, questions were raised over why several posts remained vacant, including those reserved for Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and Other Backward Classes (OBC) categories.
The University Studentsā Struggle Action Committee alleged that the vacancies were deliberately left unfilled, violating reservation norms.
Complaints regarding the issue were submitted to the Higher and Technical Education Minister on August 8 and later to the Governor of Maharashtra on August 19.
Now, candidates are expressing concerns over having to pay the application fee again. Each application costs ā¹1,000, meaning those who applied in June and are reapplying must pay ā¹2,000 for the same contractual post.
