PCMC Gears Up For Safe Ganesh Visarjan With 27 Immersion Ghats Equipped With Medical Teams, Lifeguards, And Waste Management
Pimpri, September 5, 2025: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has finalized preparations to ensure that Ganesh idol immersions are conducted smoothly, safely, and in an eco-friendly manner this year. Special arrangements have been made for citizen safety, health facilities, cleanliness, and environmental protection during the visarjan process.
Under the guidance of Municipal Commissioner and Administrator Shekhar Singh, along with Additional Commissioners Pradeep Jambhale Patil, Vijaykumar Khorate, and Trupti Sandbhore, multiple PCMC departments—including health, environment, disaster management, fire services, engineering, and security—are working in coordination.
The city has 27 designated immersion ghats equipped with lighting, drinking water, parking, medical aid, security, and traffic management. At the main site, Moshi Quarry, cranes, manpower, searchlights, improved roads, signboards, lifeguards, and firefighting equipment have been deployed. Each ghat will have trained rescue teams, boats, life jackets, and life rings, while disaster response teams are on standby for emergencies.
For citizens’ health and safety, medical teams, fully equipped ambulances, doctors, nurses, ward boys, and sanitation staff have been stationed at major ghats, supported by adequate medicine stocks and emergency equipment.
Focus on Eco-Friendly Initiatives
This year, PCMC has placed special emphasis on environment-friendly measures. Artificial ponds and nirmalya (floral offering) collection bins have been set up across the city. Citizens are urged to deposit flowers, leaves, and puja material in these bins instead of throwing them into rivers or drains.
Collected offerings will be used to produce organic compost and aromatic products. Under the ‘Reuse’ initiative, 26 centers will collect clay idols so that artisans can reuse the material. For POP idols, PCMC has arranged to use ammonium bicarbonate to reduce pollution.
Officials have appealed to citizens to use only designated immersion ghats, avoid direct river entry, keep children away from water, and ensure offerings are placed in bins rather than in water bodies.
“The safety of citizens during Ganeshotsav is our top priority. Lifeguards, medical teams, and disaster management squads have been deployed at immersion ghats. We urge citizens to cooperate with rescue and security personnel and support the administration for a safe and eco-friendly visarjan.”
