Pune: Two Arrested In Wanowrie For Illegal LPG Gas Theft, Valuables Worth ₹2.36 Lakh Seized
Pune, September 6, 2025 — The Wanwadi police have arrested two men for illegally siphoning household LPG gas into empty cylinders using a specially designed regulator pipe, posing a serious threat to public safety.
The action was taken after police constables Amol Pilane and Abhijit Chavan received a tip-off during patrol duty. Acting on the information, a team reached Surya Loknagari Society Garden, Vaiduwadi, Hadapsar, and found two men illegally transferring gas from domestic cylinders inside a yellow Piaggio tempo (MH-12 LT 2028).
The accused were identified as Pankaj Kisan Singh Thakur (20), a resident of Manjari, and Pravin Bengali Ramkumar (35), resident of Sadar. Police seized gas cylinders, a specially designed dual regulator pipe, and other material worth ₹2,36,590 from their possession.
A case has been registered at Wanwadi Police Station under BNS Sections 287, 288, and the Essential Commodities Act Sections 3 and 7.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of DCP Dr. Rajkumar Shinde (Zone 5, Pune City), ACP Dhanykumar Godse, Senior PI Satyajit Adamane, and PI (Crime) Vijaykumar Doke. The special team led by API Umakant Mahadik, along with officers Daya Shegar, Mahesh Gadhave, Amol Pilane, Atul Gaikwad, Abhijit Chavan, Gopal Madane, Yatin Bhosale, Vishnu Sutar, Balaji Waghmare, Amol Gaikwad, Arshad Sayyed, Vitthal Chormale, and Ashish Kamble, executed the raid successfully.
