Pune, September 7, 2025 — As part of its annual responsibility during Ganesh Utsav, the Pune Fire Brigade worked in coordination with other civic agencies to ensure a smooth and incident-free immersion procession this year.

From the first day of the festival until the final visarjan, the Fire Brigade deployed 120 lifeguards appointed by the Pune Municipal Corporation across 12 immersion ghats, along with 30 fire officers and 30 firefighters on duty.

During the last two days of immersions, additional fire vehicles were stationed at Alka Chowk, Abhinav Chowk, and Faraskhana Chowk to provide immediate response in case of emergencies.

No drowning incidents were reported on the 1.5-day, 5-day, 7-day, or 10-day immersion ceremonies. Apart from a minor fire incident at Alka Chowk, no major fire accidents occurred. To maintain uninterrupted vigilance, all leaves and holidays for Fire Brigade officers and staff were suspended throughout the 10-day festival.

Chief Fire Officer Devendra Prabhakar Potphode commended the dedication of the team, stating, “The Fire Brigade’s officers and staff performed their duties efficiently across all immersion ghats, ensuring Ganesh Utsav concluded peacefully. The Fire Brigade remains ever alert in serving the public.”
