The new integration allows WhatsApp Web and Windows users to preview, annotate and edit PDF files with Adobe Acrobat, making document sharing and collaboration faster and more convenient.

Pune: WhatsApp Web users will no longer have to switch between multiple applications to work on PDF files. Adobe has integrated its Acrobat PDF tools with WhatsApp Web and the Windows desktop application, allowing users to open, review and edit PDF documents directly from within their chat conversations.
The new feature is aimed at simplifying document sharing and collaboration for millions of users who regularly exchange PDF files for work, education and personal use.
Earlier, users had to download a PDF received on WhatsApp and open it separately in another application to make changes. With the latest update, documents can now be accessed through Adobe Acrobat without leaving the chat window, reducing the number of steps involved.
The integration brings several useful features for everyday document handling. Users can preview PDFs inside chats, open password-protected documents, highlight important text, underline content, strike through text and add freehand annotations. Once the required changes are made, the updated PDF can be shared back into the same WhatsApp conversation.
For users who require more advanced editing options, the document can be opened in Adobe Acrobat to organise pages, edit content, add password protection and apply electronic signatures before sending it back.
Adobe has also confirmed that PDF documents shared through WhatsApp will continue to be protected by the platform’s end-to-end encryption, helping maintain user privacy while exchanging files.
The update is expected to benefit professionals, students, teachers and businesses that rely heavily on PDF documents for contracts, invoices, assignments, reports, catalogues and other files. By reducing the need to repeatedly switch between applications, the feature can help speed up everyday workflows.
Subscribers to Adobe Acrobat will receive additional capabilities through the Acrobat AI Assistant, which can summarise PDF documents, answer questions and extract important information from files.
According to Adobe, the integration is designed to support common business and personal tasks such as reviewing contracts, collaborating on documents, sharing invoices and managing files within a single conversation.
The feature has begun rolling out globally and is currently available on WhatsApp Web and the Windows desktop application.
