South Korean carrier document outlines Apple’s new iPhone lineup with 8x zoom, larger batteries, and vapor chamber cooling.

A leaked document from a South Korean carrier has laid bare the specifications of Apple’s much-anticipated iPhone 17 lineup, just days before its official unveiling at Apple’s “Awe dropping” event on September 9.

The highlight is the 8x optical telephoto lens, available on both the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max. This marks a leap from the 5x zoom seen on the iPhone 16 Pro, and for the first time, Apple is equipping both Pro models with identical triple 48MP rear camera systems, capable of 8K video recording.

The iPhone 17 Pro Max will carry a 5,000mAh battery, the largest in any iPhone so far, while the rest of the lineup will also see incremental battery improvements. All Pro models are expected to feature vapor chamber cooling systems, borrowed from high-end Android devices, to manage the performance of the A19 Pro chip during resource-heavy tasks like gaming and ProRes video recording. Memory is also set for an upgrade, with Pro models tipped to ship with 12GB RAM.

Apple is reportedly preparing to launch four variants—the iPhone 17 Pro Max, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Air, and the base iPhone 17. The iPhone 17 Air is particularly noteworthy, rumored to be a slim 5.5 mm device inspired by Apple’s MacBook Air and iPad Air line. Despite its thin design, it will house the A19 processor, a USB-C port, ProMotion display, and a 6.6-inch OLED panel.

Design updates may include two new color options—green and purple—adding to last year’s palette of black, white, pink, teal, and ultramarine.

Pricing is expected to start at Rs 89,900 for the base model, around Rs 95,000 for the Air, and up to Rs 1,64,900 for the Pro Max, though global pricing could vary with currency fluctuations.

Apple CEO Tim Cook had teased the September 9 event with a logo styled like a thermal image, sparking speculation about thermal camera integration or vapor cooling. While no official confirmation has been made, industry insiders believe the iPhone 17 marks Apple’s first major redesign in five years.
