Pimpri, September 11, 2025: To address civic issues and ease traffic congestion in the Chakan MIDC and surrounding areas, the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has initiated strict action against illegal encroachments. In a joint operation with the municipal council and the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), around 40 encroachments were removed on Wednesday with police deployment. Officials confirmed that the demolition drive will continue in the coming days.

Last week, PMRDA Metropolitan Commissioner Dr. Yogesh Mhase held a meeting with administrative agencies and directed action against unauthorized constructions and encroachments in Chakan MIDC and nearby areas. Following these orders, encroachments along the Pune-Nashik Highway, particularly from Chakan-Talegaon Chowk to Ambethan Chowk and Ekta Nagar Road, were cleared. Notices had already been served to encroachers to vacate voluntarily, but due to non-compliance, the demolition was carried out.

Authorities said the drive will help streamline traffic movement in the area, with all encroachments within the 22.5-meter stretch on both sides of the Pune-Nashik Highway being targeted.
