New Delhi, September 12, 2025: The Delhi and Bombay High Courts were evacuated on Friday after receiving bomb threat emails, prompting suspension of hearings and triggering an immediate high-security response. Judges, lawyers, litigants, and staff were moved out of the premises as Bomb Detection and Disposal Squads (BDDS) launched intensive searches.

According to Delhi Police sources, the email claimed that three bombs had been planted in the Delhi High Court and warned that the building must be evacuated by 2 pm. No specific locations were mentioned. The premises were cordoned off, and security teams combed the area.

The email, reportedly sent from an account under the name Kanimozhi Thevidiya, carried incoherent political references and threats. It mentioned conspiracies involving Pakistan’s ISI and made references to replicating the 1998 Patna blasts. It also contained bizarre political commentary targeting dynastic politics and specific leaders.

The threatening message further alleged that explosives would be detonated inside judges’ chambers after Friday prayers and even threatened acid attacks on political figures. It included phone numbers and names, claiming they were linked to IED devices and defusal codes.

While details regarding the Bombay High Court threat remain unclear, sources suggest the same email may have been sent to both courts.

This incident comes amid a recent surge in hoax threat emails sent to key institutions in Delhi, Mumbai, and other metros, which have triggered repeated high-alert situations for security agencies.

Authorities confirmed that searches were ongoing in both locations and that additional security measures were being taken to prevent any untoward incident.
