Pune, September 13, 2025: With the rising use of Dolby and sound systems in public festival processions, citizens are facing increasing problems including inconvenience to residents, damage to property, health issues caused by excessive noise pollution, and severe traffic disruptions.

To highlight these issues and urge the administration to act, Kalaawant Trust has prepared a memorandum demanding a strict ban on DJs, Dolby systems, and other large sound systems during religious and cultural festivals, anniversary processions of leaders, and public parades.

The memorandum emphasizes the need to:

  • Prevent residents from health risks such as hearing loss caused by loud noise.
  • Reduce traffic congestion and avoid accidents.
  • Promote traditional instruments and cultural art forms in processions.
  • Establish a regulatory framework to control noise pollution.

public signature campaign will be held in support of this demand, and the collected signatures along with the memorandum will soon be submitted to the Chief Minister of Maharashtra. Citizens can participate both in person and digitally, as an online petition link will also be provided.
