TCS to Shut Major Office in This City, 1,000 Jobs at Risk; MP Minister Raises Concern
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is shutting down its Bhopal office after 13 years of operations, according to media reports. The office reportedly stopped functioning in June 2025, and the company has started shifting its assets from the city.
The closure has raised concerns as nearly 1,000 employees now face job uncertainty. TCS handled business worth around ₹500 crore annually from Madhya Pradesh, making the move a significant economic setback for the state.
The matter came to light after TCS employees approached Madhya Pradesh Finance Minister and Deputy CM Jagdish Devda. In response, Devda wrote to the TCS CEO, urging the company to reconsider its decision and continue operations in Bhopal, similar to its branches in Ahmedabad, Patna, Lucknow, Bhubaneswar, and Kochi.
He warned that the closure could result in heavy revenue losses and affect the livelihoods of thousands of families. The exact reason behind the shutdown has not been disclosed, but employees said they are being notified about transfers to other locations.
