Pune: Relief For Baner Residents! Stalled Nanaware Chowk DP Road Work Resumes, To Be Completed Soon
Pune, September 18, 2025: After years of delay, the long-pending Development Plan (DP) road at Nanaware Chowk in Baner has finally entered the completion phase, bringing much-needed relief to residents and commuters struggling with daily traffic congestion.
The crucial 24-metre DP road stretch from Pancard Club Road to Nanaware Chowk was largely completed a few years ago following the intervention of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. However, the final 100-metre stretch connecting Nanaware Chowk remained stuck, forcing motorists to take long detours via Bitwise Chowk, adding to travel time and fuel costs.
Persistent complaints from citizens kept the issue alive. Former Standing Committee Chairman Baburao Chandere and NCP Youth Congress Pune City President Sameer Chandere pursued the matter with Ajit Pawar, who directed then Municipal Commissioner Dr. Rajendra Bhosale to resolve the hurdles.
Recently, current Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram reviewed the project after technical and administrative bottlenecks were cleared, allowing the stalled roadwork to restart. The remaining work is now expected to be completed within a few months.
Residents believe the completion of this stretch will significantly reduce traffic congestion in Baner, Nanaware Chowk, and surrounding areas, ease the burden on Bitwise Chowk, and save daily commuting time. It is also expected to boost real estate development in the locality.
This long-standing issue is finally nearing resolution thanks to the combined efforts of the administration, local representatives, and active citizen follow-up.
