September 30, Cab, Auto and Taxi Drivers Across Maharashtra to Take Oath to Vote Against Mahayuti
Mumbai, September 18, 2025: Despite repeated written and verbal assurances to the state’s Assistant Transport Commissioner, companies like Ola, Uber, and Rapido have failed to implement government-approved fares on their mobile applications.
On September 16, 2025, these companies once again promised compliance, but drivers allege they continue to flout official directives, deceiving both the government and drivers.
In protest, a large gathering of cab, rickshaw, and taxi drivers working with these platforms was held at Azad Maidan, Mumbai, on September 18 at 11 am. The meeting resolved that if fair rates are not implemented and bike taxis are not banned by September 30, 2025, all drivers across the state will take an oath to vote against the Mahayuti alliance at 11 am on the same day.
During the protest, drivers raised slogans such as “Down with the Tesla Minister” in strong criticism of the Transport Minister.
To spread awareness about the September 30 agitation, millions of rickshaw and taxi drivers across the state will also paste protest stickers on their vehicles — Dr. Keshav Nana Kshirsagar
