Pune: Shri Bichkshna Durgotsav On NIBM Road Celebrates 22 Years Of Cultural And Spiritual Legacy
Pune, September 24, 2025 – Bengalis in Pune gathered once again at Shri Sankatharan Mandir, NIBM Circle, Kondhwa, for the 22nd edition of the Shri Bichkshna Durgotsav, blending nostalgia with tradition and creating a unique sense of community and cultural identity.
The festival, known for being entirely non-commercial, crowd-funded, and spiritually focused, has maintained its ethos of inclusivity. Devotees from all walks of life, regardless of class, creed, faith, or gender, are welcome to participate in the celebrations. The event features the Matri Bhakti, Matri Aradhana, Matri Seva, and Matri Puja, a unique ritual observed in this puja among the 70 to 75 Durga Pujas held across Pune.
This year, nearly 1,000 devotees thronged the Puja Mandap, continuing a legacy that began in Mumbai over two decades ago when Mr. Jayanta Chakrabarty brought the worship of Maa Bichkshna Devi to Pune. Devotees enjoyed free bhog from Saptami to Navami, with no tickets or mandatory donations required, reflecting the festival’s core principle of accessible devotion for all.
Shri Bichkshna Durgotsav has grown over the years into a celebration that is not just a cultural gathering but also a spiritual journey, drawing families and friends across Pune and beyond. Organizers and devotees expressed their gratitude and blessings, wishing joy and prosperity to all followers worldwide.
The event also emphasizes the spreading of spiritual awareness, encouraging attendees to share, write reviews, and spread the essence of Maa Bichkshna Devi’s blessings.
